LOVING TO GET HIGH SYNDROME Helping Parents Understand Why Kids Love To Get High
  • about loving to get high

We can use labels like addict, chemically dependent, drug abuser and alcoholic.  But with all of these labels we miss the most important part of the picture; prior to the development of any problem with a drug, kids fall in love with getting high.

The kids label this as fun! And what ends up becoming a problem, starts out for them as a solution.

Kids fall in love with the feeling of being high. This experience for them provides a real solution to real problems. It helps them find something that is missing in their lives.

    • Bored kids are able to create excitement
    • Lonely kids make new friends
    • Scared kids find courage
    • Sad kids discover happiness
    • Defiant kids find something to fight about
    • Depressed kids get an emotional lift

Parents, as long as we wait for a diagnosable problem with concrete evidence that can be labeled and that we can do an Intervention on, we’ve waited too long.

The loving to get high syndrome™ gives us ample evidence that a problem already exists, it’s just not obvious. Kids who love to get high keep it a secret. It is a huge deal for them which they will go out of their way to keep hidden.

    • They don’t want to get busted.
    • They don’t want to give up their freedom.
    • They don’t want to lose what they love the most, getting high.
    • They don’t want us as parents to figure any of this out.

But figuring this out is exactly what we need to do.

My wife Karen and I have first hand experience with an adolescent who loves getting high. With the information on this Blog and the Tele-Seminars provided we will also provide Personal Coaching for parents interested in identifying and dealing with a son or daughter who might be in the middle of this loving to get high syndrome™.
